The Popular Committees for Refugees (PCR) meets with Thomas White in Gaza

Gaza, (Drah)--

The Popular Committees for Refugees (PCR) in Al-Shati (Beach) refugee camp participated, Tuesday 25 May 2022, in the meeting organized by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) with the Agency's Director of Operations, Thomas White, at the Beach (Swidi) health care center.

The Popular Committees for Refugees was represented by its Chairman Youssef Al-Zalan and its Executive Director Omar Al-Dweik, who have participated in the meeting that brought together the heads of the popular committees of the Fatah Movement and the PFLP, as well as representatives from the Gaza Municipality and Women's Action.

During the meeting, many problems facing the refugees inside the Beach refugee camp were discussed.

The Director of UNRWA Operations, Thomas White, briefed the attendees on the latest developments that ensure the continuation of the work of the agency serving the camp.

While the speakers addressed the needs of the camp residents and the problems faced by the refugees, the salinity of the water, the lack of proper water networks, the damaged roads and streets, the garbage, and the lack of cleaners inside the blocks, in addition to some other issues.

At the end of the meeting, Thomas White promised to solve part of these problems with the financial capabilities available to the agency.

The parties also agreed on the need to meet again to discuss and solve problems, especially the problem of construction and urban survey inside the camp.
