UNRWA: Over 250000 Palestinians evacuated out of their camps in Syria

Gaza, (DRAH.ps)-- The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East - UNRWA – stated that the conflict-taking place in Syria displaced half of the Palestinian refugees in the country, pointing out that many of those refugees are in urgent need to humanitarian assistance.

According to "UNRWA", some 250 thousand Palestinian refugees out of 500 thousand Palestinians living in Syria have evacuated out of their camps to far places away of the tensions areas, while 20 thousand resorted to Lebanon and about 3,500 to Jordan.

 The Commissioner General of the "UNRWA", Filippo Grandi, said, "about 525 thousand Palestinian refugees in Syria are suffering of the conflict,'' noting that they are about to become "double refugees".

However, Palestinian sources said that the number of refugees who fled to Lebanon is bigger than that.

The source explained that 3400 Palestinian families were displaced from Syria, and about 1800 families resorted to the area of Beak (in eastern Lebanon). It added that some 2200 families also resorted to the camps in Lebanon.
