Istanbul photo exhibition speaks up for prisoners’ cause

Gaza,(DRAH.ps)--  A photo exhibition has been hosted in the Turkish metropolitan city of Istanbul as part of underway endeavors to mark the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day.

 The photo exhibition is the by-product of joint efforts by the International Campaign to Support the Detainees in Israeli Jails-Tadhamun, FIDDER Palestine Solidarity Association, and the Palestinians in Turkey Conference.

 The event, staged at Kirazli metro station in Istanbul under the title “Stories behind Prison Bars”, aims to raise awareness about the Israeli violations against the Palestinian detainees, most notably internment without trial, medical neglect, solitary confinement, visit-bans, and child torture.

 Statistics about the detainees and reports about the conditions of their captivity also appeared at the event. A live broadcast of the exhibition figured on Al-Jazeera TV Channel. Hundreds of commuters also showed up.

 A series of events has been held in Turkey to mark the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day. The solidarity events are expected to be wrapped up by the end of April.
