Palestinian heritage to figure prominently in Istanbul conference

Gaza,(DRAH.ps)-- A number of cultural and popular exhibitions will be organized on the sidelines of the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad which will be held on 25-26 February 2017 in the Turkish city of Istanbul.

The exhibitions involve 50 Palestinian institutions working in the diaspora to revive the Palestinian heritage and emphasize the Palestinian refugees' right of return to their homeland from which they were expelled in 1948.

Hani Abbas, the representative of the exhibitions committee, said that more than 50 institutions from Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, the Arab Gulf, and Europe will display Palestinian embroideries and introduce the Palestinian kitchen and hospitality.

Palestinians of Turkey website said, quoting Abbas, that the exhibitions are meant to stress the Palestinian constants and that Palestinians abroad will not give up their homeland and their right to return and will maintain their efforts to revive the Palestinian heritage and traditions.

The exhibitions will include Palestinian formative arts, paintings telling about the Palestinians' suffering in the diaspora, and other paintings depicting the suffering of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails as well as the Ottoman archive in occupied Jerusalem.

The Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad is a national conference that seeks to launch a popular movement aimed at activating the role of Palestinians abroad in defending the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people to liberate their land and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
